There were 32 arrests in Stanislaus County and Modesto as part of the statewide Decoy Shoulder Tap Operation, according to the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Of those, 28 were arrested for furnishing alcohol to minors and five were booked, two on drugs charges, two for illegal gun possession charges and one on a felony warrant, said Public Information Officer John Carr.

The operation was conducted Friday and resulted in 475 arrests statewide. Minors under the direct supervision of a peace officer stood outside liquor or convenience stores and approached patrons to buy them alcohol, admitting they were underage.

The penalty for furnishing alcohol to a minor is a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours of community service.
