Ceres schools briefly locked down

March 15, 2013

— Two Ceres schools were locked down and police swarmed the area near Smyrna Park after several students returning from a field trip reported seeing a man point a gun at the bus in which they were riding Friday.

The Carroll Fowler Elementary School students said the suspect with a gun was wearing all black, including a hooded sweat shirt, and was riding a bicycle.

The elementary school on Garrison Street was locked down about 12:30 p.m., along with nearby Mae Hensley Junior High School, while officers searched the school and surrounding area.

No suspect was located and the lockdown was lifted after about 15 minutes.
