See the best of Modesto's Camellias this weekend

MODESTO -- If the week's warm weather didn't make you feel like spring is in full bloom, an annual show returning to Modesto this weekend should do the trick.

The Camellia Society of Modesto 's 52nd annual Camellia Show will take over the grounds today and Sunday at the Gallo Administration building on Yosemite Avenue.

In what's billed as one of the première camellia shows in the United States, thousands of camellia plants will be on display for viewing — including those in the gardens of the Gallo grounds, where 1,000 camellia shrubs are planted.

The annual camellia show is the only time that the grounds are open to the public for viewing, and the blooms dot the landscape along a pathway that takes walkers around a 1-mile loop.

There will be more than 200 camellia plants in various sizes for sale at the show.

The show is from 2-5 p.m. today, 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday in the Palm Court of the Gallo Administration Building, 600 Yosemite Blvd. Admission to the event is free. For more information, call (209) 614-9794
