Modesto man stabbed in throat as he holds baby

MODESTO -- A 23-year-old Modesto woman is in jail on suspicion of stabbing her boyfriend in the throat while he held their 9-month-old son.

Modesto police were called to the 1900 block of Sage Court about 2 a.m. Tuesday when the victim called police to stay his girlfriend had stabbed him with a knife that had an 8-inch blade, according to Lt. Jolene Gonzales.

The man's injury, about an inch-long laceration, was not life-threatening. The couple's son was not hurt during the assault but was about three inches from the blade when his father was stabbed, Gonzales said.

Gonzales did not know what motivated the attack. Brianna Angelique Flores, 23, was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.
