The entertainer Weird Al Yankovic, shown in this undated handout photo, will be playing the Paul Paul Theater on Thursday, October 11 during the Big Fresno Fair.

— The Stanislaus County Fair will get weird this year. "Weird Al" Yankovic, to be exact.

The performer, known for his spoofs of popular songs, will perform at the fair July 13. A shy, accordion-playing teenager, Yankovic got his start by sending his homemade tapes to the Dr. Demento radio show, the fair said in a news release.

He went on to become the biggest-selling comedy artist in history, with more than 12 million in album sales.

His hits include "Eat It," "Like a Surgeon," "Fat," "Smells Like Nirvana," "Amish Paradise" and "The Saga Begins."

The 2013 Stanislaus County Fair opens July 12 for a 10-day run. For more information, go online to
