— While serving a search warrant at a home in Denair with an indoor marijuana garden, Stanislaus County sheriff's deputies found a man wanted by Oakland police on suspicion of murder.

At about noon Wednesday, deputies from the department's Crime Reduction Team went to a home in the 3900 block of Waring Road in Denair after getting complaints about marijuana being grown at the home, said Sgt. Anthony Bejaran.

Inside, deputies found more than 180 medium-size marijuana plants growing in multiple rooms. The person inside the home was identified as Manuel Santa Cruz Calderon, 23, of Lathrop. Deputies learned Oakland police had a warrant for his arrest for murder.

He was booked at the Stanislaus County Jail on the warrant, as well as on suspicion of possession of cocaine for sale and cultivation of marijuana.

Bejaran said Calderon was not living at the home and their investigation into the marijuana garden is ongoing. Additional suspects might face charges.

Bejaran did not know what murder Calderon is suspected of committing, and Oakland police could not be reached for comment.
