-- California Highway Patrol officers arrested a 62-year-old Tuolumne woman on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after her car hit a truck and two vehicles then careened into another truck.

According to the CHP, the accident occurred at 5:42 p.m. at Tuolumne and Cherokee roads. Cheryl Baker was driving a 2003 Honda east on Tuolumne when she tried to turn left onto Cherokee. Her car went into the path of a 1988 Mazda pickup, driven by Jackson Trent, 16, of Sonora, who was driving west on Tuolumne.

The front of the Honda hit the front of the Mazda, then the two vehicles bounced off the front of a 1988 Toyota pickup halted at the stop sign on Cherokee. Trent, a 16-year-old passenger in his truck and the Toyota driver, Nathan Reese, 21, of Sonora, were not hurt.

Baker suffered major injuries and was taken by helicopter to a Modesto hospital. Officers arrested her on a DUI charge.
