Celtic Faire

The 27th annual Sonora Celtic Faire features 11 bands plus jousting, a medieval midway, juggling, belly dancing, Scottish and Irish dancing, a food court and a Celtic clothing and wares shop. Featured bands include Celtica, Wicked Tinkers, Tempest, the Black Irish Band and the Black Eyed Dempseys.

WHEN: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. today, plus kickoff party at 7 p.m., 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday

WHERE: Mother Lode Fairgrounds, 220 Southgate Drive, Sonora

TICKETS: Today: $5 students with ID, $10 adults. Saturday: $20 in advance, $25 at the gate for adults, $10 for kids 6-12. Sunday: $18 in advance, $20 at the gate adults, $10 kids 6-12. Kids 5 and under are always free. $15 for kickoff party. Three-day adult VIP pass, which admits to everything including the party, is $50.

'Charlotte's Web'

California Theatre Center presents "Charlotte's Web," based on E.B. White's popular children's novel about courage and friendship. The story centers on a magical barnyard where animals talk, miracles happen and a friendship develops between a lovable pig named Wilbur and a kind spider named Charlotte. This show is recommended for grades K-5.

Ana Moura

Ana Moura, a fado star in Europe, returns to the Gallo Center for the Arts. Born in Santarem, Portugal, Moura is "a leading exponent of this poetic, deeply expressive idiom which personifies the Portuguese psyche as it explores such universal themes as lost love, separation and longing," according to the Gallo Center website.

'Shrek the Musical'

Based on the 2001 Oscar-winning animated film "Shrek," "Shrek the Musical" offers 19 new songs plus a back story on some of the characters. Presented by NETworks Presentations, this touring production features a 23-member cast and sets and costumes from the original Broadway production. The show is part romance and part twisted fairy tale.

'On the Prairie'

ArtsPower presents the musical production "Laura Ingalls Wilder: Growing Up on the Prairie." Based on the life of the author of the popular "Little House" series, the musical follows Laura and her family as they travel across America in search of a place to call home. The family must overcome serious obstacles such as scarlet fever and eviction. This show should appeal to anyone who loved the books or the "Little House on the Prairie" TV series.
