Applications for three fair pageants due Friday

There are three categories: Miss Madera County (for women 16 to 20), Little Miss Madera County (girls 6-9) and the Tommyhawk Contest (boys 6-9). Winners will represent Madera County at Chowchilla-Madera County Fair and other events in 2013.

Applications are available at the Chowchilla Fairgrounds, 1000 S. Third Street, and online at www.ChowchillaFair.org. Applications should be turned in at the Fairgrounds office.

Each pageant category will have eight contestants, randomly selected from all applications at the Chowchilla Madera County Fair Board meeting on March 11, at 6 p.m. at the Fairgrounds office. All applicants will be notified of their status by telephone within 72 hours.

Contestants in all categories must be the required age as of May 15.

Pageant contestants will be evaluated on scholastic achievement, community involvement, poise, behavior, personality and other items. Talent is a separate category and winners will receive a separate award.

Winners are obligated to participate in the Chowchilla Spring Festival parade, May 18 and will be required to attend the Chowchilla-Madera County Fair, May 16-19, each day.
