Editor's Note: Tuesday, we reported that the North Dakota Senate voted down an amendment that would provide money to buy out Hamid Shirvani's contract as chancellor of that state's university system. The next day, the Senate reversed itself, voting 28-19 to include the buyout money in the higher education funding bill. The bill now goes to the House. The proposal provides $854,000 for the buyout but the decision is up to the Board of Higher Education. As he was while at CSU, Stanislaus, Shirvani is being criticized in North Dakota for his management style.
