-- The California Department of Transportation has reopened a stretch of Highway 108 west of Jamestown that was closed for extended repairs stemming from a crash last month.

A tanker truck hauling gasoline east on Highway 108 jackknifed and overturned, spilling about 1,000 gallons of fuel about 6:30 a.m. Feb. 20.

The single-vehicle crash happened about four miles west of Jamestown. The driver was not hurt.

Authorities closed Highway 108 in both directions at the scene and detoured traffic for two days. But more work was needed, so authorities shut down the highway for what was expected to be a week.

The road reopened Monday night, a day before authorities had planned.
