Body found in Tuolumne River is male

Modesto police said Monday that the person found dead last week in the Tuolumne River under the Seventh Street Bridge was a man in his 20s.

They have not positively identified him or determined how he died, but they continue to call the death "suspicious." Detectives are waiting for toxicology reports for a cause of death.

The victim was found Thursday evening by a family walking along the river. Officials said last week that the man had been in the water for at least several weeks.
