Sign rendering from the Turlock Planning Commission agenda.

TURLOCK - A new, large commercial highway sign could greet drivers along Highway 99 off the West Main Street exit soon.

The Turlock Planning Commission will have its monthly meeting Thursday and on the agenda is a proposed new 85-foot-tall, 38-foot-wide multitenant freeway sign at 185 N. Tully Road. The large sign could accommodate up to nine tenants, though there are also four and six tenant options being presented. The structure, which is in line with existing multitenant Turlock freeway signs from Monte Vista Crossing and Countryside Plaza, would feature large “Welcome to Turlock” and “West Main Street Exit” messages on top.

The applicants, who include the Turlock-based Days Inn owner and NCUP Turlock LLC out of Concord, would also erect a new 8-by-8 foot Days Inn signs on its 1601 W. Main St. property to replace their existing hotel sign.

The commission will vote to authorize a conditional use permit for the construction at its 7 p.m. meeting Thursday at City Hall.
