Autopsy results awaited for body ID

MODESTO -- No additional information was available Friday on the body found below Modesto's Seventh Street Bridge the night before.

Investigators at the scene could not determine gender or approximate age of the person, Modesto police Sgt. Rick Applegate said Friday.

He spoke with a detective who attended the autopsy and said there still was no identification.

"The body had been in the water several weeks — at least a few weeks," Applegate said.

He was told investigators were awaiting "forensic ID" once autopsy results are in. Police say the death is considered suspicious.
