Modesto police seek help in finding possible witness to homicide

MODESTO -- Modesto Police are asking for the public’s help to locate a possible witness to a Feb. 2 homicide in south Modesto. Modesto Police officers were called to a report of a shooting near the intersection of West Hatch Road and Dallas Street.

When officers arrived they located the victim, Atour Daoud, 54, sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle, which was stopped for a red light at the intersection. Daoud died at the scene from at least one gunshot wound. Detectives are looking for the driver of a white, 2000s Ford Ranger pickup that may have been in the area at time of the shooting.
