MODESTO -- Several dozen Modesto police officers and Stanislaus County sheriff's deputies responded to a large fight Thursday night in west Modesto during which one person was stabbed and another suffered a head injury.
The fight was at an apartment complex in the 800 block of Sutter Avenue at about 7:30 p.m., said police Sgt. Terry Seese.
Both victims were taken by ambulance to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Seese did not know their names or ages.
Several people were handcuffed and put in the back of patrol cars at the scene, but Seese did not have any information about who might have been arrested.
At 9 p.m., there still were a dozen Modesto police officers at the scene collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
In the front of the apartment complex, an officer removed handcuffs from a woman with blood splatter on her pants.
In a pathway between two apartment buildings, an officer talked with a young child, while another officer walked the hall with a flashlight near four people police had sitting along a sidewalk.
