-- The California Department of Transportation has closed a stretch of Highway 108 west of Jamestown for extended repairs stemming from an accident last week.

About 6:30 a.m. Feb. 20, a tanker truck hauling gasoline east on Highway 108 jackknifed and overturned, spilling about 1,000 gallons of fuel.

The single-vehicle accident happened about four miles west of Jamestown. The driver was not hurt.

Authorities closed Highway 108 in both directions at the accident scene and detoured traffic for two days.

But more work is needed, so the highway will be closed through Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Detours are in place. Motorists should expect delays of 10 minutes or so. Officials recommend drivers find an alternate route if possible.
