Turlock chase, crash ends in arrest

TURLOCK -- Turlock police arrested a 37-year-old man after he led them on a chase in what turned out to be a stolen car, authorities said.

According to police, an officer tried to stop Shane Hamilton for a traffic code violation at 3:46 a.m. Sunday on Angelus Street.

Hamilton drove away, then crashed into a fence and ran. He was caught when he ran in the direction of an officer who had helped set up a search perimeter.

Officers later found the vehicle had been stolen but the theft had not yet been reported. Hamilton was booked on auto theft and other charges.
