Eid could be a holiday for all

In response to "Mom wants Eid al-Fitr recognized" (Feb. 19, Page B-2): I think it's about time this is a topic of discussion!

Eid is a religious holiday that is celebrated by Muslims around the world. Muslim Americans shouldn't have to choose between keeping up their perfect attendance records or celebrating a religious holiday.

Veronica Aziz and the rest of the Muslim community in and around Lodi aren't asking the principal to "keep track of perfect attendance except for this or that." All we want is for the younger Muslim American generation to be able to celebrate their religious holiday just like any other kid on the playground.

Go ahead and give everyone the day the off! We don't want special treatment. We just want to be treated like equal citizens.
