With respect to sequestration (but could apply to many other areas), it appears that Congress created a problem that only Congress can solve, with the acquiescence of President Barack Obama. But when the time comes to solve the problem, Congress is unable to solve it.
My first thought is: What a bunch of morons! They set themselves a trap, and then walked right into it.
I would suggest sequestration is not the answer (look at Europe's experience with austerity). Deficit spending must come under control after we reach full employment. You cannot fix the economy by giving your rich buddies and big corporations more than they have now while expecting the elderly and middle class to pay to fix the problem. Unemployment is today's most serious problem. Fix that, and the deficit will almost fix itself.
Congress had two weeks remaining to remedy sequestration, and Congress went on vacation. Now, instead of looking like a bunch of buffoons, there are questions about the fitness of Congress to govern this country.
Get with it, get 'er done. Think about the regular guys once, for a change.
