Police patrols look for Modesto drunk drivers

February 21, 2013

— Police will deploy roving saturation patrols tonight, looking for drunken drivers throughout Modesto.

The patrols are made up of officers assigned solely to look for impaired drivers.

The Modesto Police Department also will be looking for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs at a sobriety checkpoint Saturday night at an undisclosed location in the city. Officers at the checkpoint also will be looking for drivers without valid licenses.

The checkpoint and the patrols are funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety.
