Just fighting for my own district?

February 20, 2013

Recently I visited a mobile office of Rep. Jeff Denham, R-Turlock, for assistance on a Veterans Affairs claim that has been going on for 27-plus months. The men and women of the Oakland VA are doing a fine job, don't you think?

After completing the paperwork, I was told I would be contacted by phone. On arriving at home, I got a call asking for my ZIP code. Then was told I wasn't in Denham's district and they would forward my information to Rep. Dennis Cardoza in the 18th District.

When I was drafted into the Army in 1969, they didn't ask what district I was from. I thought I was fighting for the U.S., but I guess it was just a district.
