In response to "Christianson's letter to VP misguided" (Feb. 14, Letters): Whether it's Antonin Scalia, Jerry Brown, President Barack Obama, Joe Biden or another anti-gun politician, it is abhorrent for them to try to deny me of my gun rights.

It is the goal of anti-gun advocates to make this country a gun-free zone. It's a woman's right to protect herself against men who commit violence against women, children and the elderly.

Men have abdicated their role as protectors and providers, leaving women to work and rear their children on their own. Men commit rape, murder and assaults, and men are making the laws that protect the criminals and not women. Men in power make a mockery of the death penalty, do not enforce laws, suspend sentences, and have a faulty probation system, e.g., Jaycee Dugard.

It was necessary for frontier women to know how to use a gun or a rifle for survival; this new frontier of brazen criminality against women necessitates immediate defensive response by the victim to protect themselves and their families in their homes, on the streets against rapists, murderers, child molesters, purse snatchers, carjacking, and judges and politicians that coddle criminals.

Crimes rates had been dropping, but since 2010 crimes have increased.
