GOP should focus on real problems

February 19, 2013

I find something quite peculiar. Under the guise of potential voter fraud across this land, Republicans have brought myriad ballot initiatives to the polls that effectually limit voter access. Critics have decried these as veiled attempts to disenfranchise the poor and minorities from their right to vote, and statistics do not bear out that mass voter fraud is occurring.

Thousands across this land are maimed and murdered yearly in senseless gun violence — not "potential" victims — and yet Republicans bury their heads in the sand at the mention of molding any legislation protecting our citizens from the violence. They will protect imagined voter fraud, but not the flesh-and-blood lives of their fellow citizens.

Isn't it peculiar that they cannot see the inequity here?
