Modesto rain returning, temps decline

MODESTO -- Even though the trees are budding and the birdies are trilling, Old Man Winter isn't done with us yet.

A winter storm warning has been set for the Sierra and the valley. The National Weather Service seven-day forecast for Modesto calls for showers today, with thunderstorms possible after 10 a.m.

The expected high temperature is 52, and there will be winds of 5 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Wednesday through Friday are supposed to be partly cloudy, with a chance of showers returning Friday night.

Daily highs should increase through the week, up to 61 degrees by Sunday.
