AJAX 11-U GIRLS CLAIM STATE CUP
The Ajax United Elite 02 under-11 girls team, representing the elite arm of Modesto Youth Soccer Association, claimed the State Cup last weekend in Turlock, earning the right to be called the best of the roughly 120 under-11 girls squads in Northern California. The team, coached by Aklesh Singh, won seven tournaments during the season and went 9-0 at the State Cup, outscoring opponents 56-5. Ajax United Elite who lost last year's state final in a penalty kick shootout defeated Mountain View Los Altos 4-2 in Sunday's championship final. DIVISIONALS WRAP AT FOUR LOCALES
Stanislaus District wrestlers will conclude their two-day Sac-Joaquin Section divisional competition today at four venues. The Division 1A, featuring the best of the Central California Conference, finishes with title matches scheduled to start at 3 p.m. at Turlock's Pitman High. The Modesto Metro Conference wraps up with the D1AA at Napa's Vintage High, while the D4 including the Valley Oak League and the Western Athletic climax at Los Banos. The Trans-Valley, Mother Lode and Southern leagues are at Lindhurst for the D5. All are trying to qualify for the Section Masters next week in Stockton.
