Stops and patrols to target drunken drivers in Modesto

local@modbee.comFebruary 14, 2013

Police will be looking for drunken drivers this weekend, starting tonight with a sobriety checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Modesto.

Officers also will be looking for drivers without valid licenses at the checkpoint.

Modesto police also will deploy saturation patrols throughout the city on Saturday night. The roving patrols are made up of officers assigned to look solely for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The checkpoint and patrols are funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety.
