No gun law would have stopped Dorner

With the shooting tragedies at Newtown and Aurora, anti-gun politicians want to take guns away from 99.99 percent of gun owners who have never committed a crime. They want only law enforcement and the military to have guns. The murderous rampage by former Los Angeles police officer Chris Dorner should change that idea.

Would someone tell me how banning the possession of guns by the general public would prevent this from happening again? Current HIPAA regulations prevent release of mental health risk information, so there is no way to prevent nut-jobs from obtaining firearms.

Rather than disarm the innocent and taking away their rights to self-defense, we need to pay more attention to the people who pose a genuine risk because of threats of violence or violent mental illness.

Both Adam Lanza of Newtown, Conn., and James Holmes of Aurora, Colo., had violent mental problems. It seems like Sen. Dianne Feinstein and others of her mindset want to sweep these facts under the rug to promote her agenda of an unarmed population.
