I remember when it was one nation under God with liberty and justice for all. "The pledge of allegiance," wasn't it? School children recited it daily, in classrooms where it wasn't unusual to see a framed Ten Commandments on the wall. That was offensive to some people, so now God is gone from the school house. What do you see happening there now?
The cornerstone of the foundation of our nation's Judeo-Christian heritage has been loosened and is being removed.
Current political ideology is expounded by men whose hubris, egotism and selfishness have the nation on the road to perdition.
We have lost our "roots in the spirit," to quote C.G. Jung, "If the individual is not truly regenerated in spirit, society cannot be either, for society is the sum total of individuals in need of redemption." Imagine if our elected officials were sincerely dedicated to this important task.
Unfortunately, because we've lost our "roots in the spirit," one could never go broke underestimating the intelligence of the American voter, whose main concern is their own ego-self and the pebble in their shoe.
When the grace of God descends on us, everyone will understand his own mistakes.
