Pope depicted unfairly

In response to the letter that said the pope was "a member of Hitler Youth." I think the letter writer should be better informed before trying to discredit the leader of a church that certainly is not perfect, but has done more good than bad.

Yes, the pope was a member of this youth organization. But he did it because it was the law at the time. This does not mean, though, that he or his family were members of the Nazi party.

He deserted from the army, putting his life at great risk. I encourage people to read his autobiography to learn more about him.

Some of us priests have already done enough to discredit our church; we don't need your help. May God bless you!
