Hold Stanislaus County sheriff accountable — now

After reading the report on deputy Bob Paris and locksmith Glendon Engert, I have to conclude that the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department desperately needs new leadership.

The complete disregard of the early unequivocal information about the dangers involved in dealings with James Ferrario tells me that all personnel up the line from deputy Paris, including Sheriff Adam Christianson, need to be terminated — now — by a recall election, if needed.

If such action is not taken by the Board of Supervisors, the voters of Stanislaus County should hold the board responsible for the continuation of this inept leadership in the Sheriff's Department.

DALE W. LERCH

Editor's Note: Sheriff is an elected position. The Board of Supervisors does not have the power to hire or fire the sheriff.
