MODESTO -- Two men were shot Monday afternoon while sitting in lawn chairs in the front yard of a west Modesto home.
Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Placid Lane about 5:15 p.m. and found the two shooting victims with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to Sgt. Terry Seese.
Officers collected shell casings from the back seat of a Honda parked in the driveway. There was a hole in the rear window that a bullet had penetrated.
While the shooting appeared to be a drive-by, officers still were interviewing multiple witnesses Monday evening, Seese said.
The victims, in their early 20s, were uncooperative with officers at the scene. One could be heard yelling at emergency workers from the ambulance. They were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Nearby James Marshall Elementary School was not in session during the shooting, but dozens of children played at the park north of the school.
