MODESTO -- An attic fire in a vacant farmhouse caused an estimated $20,000 in damage Saturday afternoon.
Modesto Regional Fire Authority Battalion Chief Alan Ernst said firefighters arrived just before 4 p.m. at the home in the 5300 block of Carver Road. Ernst said a spark from a nearby burn of ag trimmings caught the old roof on fire. He said the owner had a permit and required clearance.
Crews had the fire out in 20 minutes, Ernst said. There were no injuries.
