Emanuel Medical Center workers protest union in Turlock

local@modbee.comFebruary 9, 2013

— About a dozen workers at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock held an anti-union protest along Olive Avenue on Saturday afternoon.

Organizer Kim Wilson said she did not want to pay 2 percent of her wages to a union and did not believe their promises of higher wages and job security.

"We’re not bringing in the patients. How do they propose to pay for a raise?" Wilson asked.

A vote of 400 unlicensed hospital workers on whether to unionize set for January was delayed by charges of intimidation by union supporters.
