In light of former Stanislaus County sheriff's deputy Dennis Wallace being reinstated to his position after his brave fight for justice due to disability discrimination, one must look at our sheriff's ability to fairly run the department.

The sheriff's department faces two other lawsuits brought on by two deputies who say they were forced out after being injured, with no interaction. Another detective was reinstated and given back pay after threatening to sue for a reassignment he felt was punitive.

Now the county has a new policy mandating such "give and take" negotiations.

Let's not even talk about citizen lawsuits and the sexual harassment lawsuits. There must be a big budget line item in the county budget for litigation for the sheriff's department.

It is time for a new leadership. Is there anyone in the sheriff's department who is up for the challenge?
