Police seek suspect after Modesto stabbing

Police investigate a stabbing in an alley between Main Street and Boulder in south Modesto.

— A man was stabbed in the chest Thursday afternoon in south Modesto by what he told police was a stranger.

The victim was walking in an alley between Boulder Avenue and Main Street at about 1:30 p.m. when he was stabbed by the suspect, police said.

The suspect, described as a white man in his late 40s or early 50s with a grey beard. He was wearing a green shirt and was last seen running through the alley toward Boulder.

The victim, who alert and able to walk when police arrived, was taken to the hospital by ambulance and is expected to survive.
