In reply to a recent letter, "Settle gun control issue soon," the author is correct: The Second Amendment doesn't say anything about assault weapons with 30-round clips. It also doesn't say anything about rifles for hunting or handguns for protecting the home. It talks about "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State ..."
The security of the free state could mean defending my country from foreign invaders, or, more likely, from domestic enemies (gangsters with assault rifles and 30-round clips) or even more likely, my own government. I don't plan on being outgunned either way.
As a society, we all have to learn we can't fix stupid or crazy, which of course would be the best way to stop mass killings.
