Fatal accident closes Highway 99 near Delhi

February 4, 2013

— All lanes of southbound Highway 99 have reopened after a fatal accident just south of the Merced County line closed them this morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a passerby reported seeing a car overturned in the southbound lanes at 4:22 a.m.

Officers closed the road for about two hours and diverted traffic off the highway at the Collier Road offramp, then back down the onramp.

It’s not yet clear whether there was more than one person in the vehicle, or what kind of car it was.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.
