Turlock High School yearbook adviser Virginia Barr is one of 10 finalists in the running for a $10,000 Great American Classroom Makeover from Great American Financial Resources Inc. If named a winner, she said she will purchase supplies and equipment to replace what was lost in a classroom flood in December 2011. Winners are chosen by public vote, once daily, at www.gaclassroommakeover.com through Feb. 22.

POLITICAL SPEAKERS:

The Modesto Junior College Freedom Forum Political Science Club will continue its spring semester speaker series with talks related to politics, law and public affairs. Guest speaker Phillip Ung will present "The Voice of Voters and the $6 Billion Election?" at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Founders 172 on the east campus,435 College Ave. Ung is California Common Cause's policy advocate. The presentation is free and will be followed by a discussion. Campus parking passes are $1 at ticket dispensers in student lots.

DAVIS HIGH PROGRAMS:

Davis High information night will be at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 13 in the school's little theater, 1200 W. Rumble Road. The meeting will provide eighth-grade students and parents details about the unique programs at Davis, open to all students in the district: Public Safety Academy, Health Careers Academy, and Advanced Placement class offerings. SIFA CANCELS MEETING:

The Feb. 13 meeting of the Schools Infrastructure Financing Agency board is canceled. There are no actions required in February. The next regularly scheduled meeting is March 13.
