It is awful to wake up to the smell of what appears to be vomit or some concoction of burnt grain mixed with something else rancid. Finally we find out it is coming from the Diamond Pet Foods factory here.
Pet food companies can advertise that they can provide you with dog food that will make your dog's breath smell great, but when it comes to the surrounding community they don't seem to care.
Ripon has sewer ponds that don't seem to give us grief, nor did the previous paper plant, so why so much odor from Diamond Pet Foods?
Diamond seems to be very proud of the high tech that they employ in power production, so I'm positive that with the help of carbon filters or a form of water scrubbers like they use on smokestacks or even using the managers and owners of the plant to come down when they are cooking and filter the air with their own breathing, there is enough technology out there to allow Diamond to be more of a good neighbor than they are exhibiting at present.
The valley has enough air quality issues without adding this to it.
