The new year's newness has gone. As a churchgoer, it's also occurred to me that Lenten season is earlier this year. Also, a Democratic president has been sworn in for his second term.
What do all these have in common? They should be the start of a new season, time to reflect and change. But what changes will be made? In terms of religion, what am I doing to contribute to my parish? In terms of politics, this year will mark 10 years of Iraqi occupation. Why did it drag on? What can we do to actually get any change done in Washington or anywhere?
What resolutions were made for the new year? One of my resolutions is to be more active and involved in the community. There are many organizations always looking for help. There is an active tea party if you're of that persuasion.
