-- At least four family cats in Newman have been struck with darts from a small crossbow, according to the Police Department.

Saturday, four cats were shot with the six-inch darts between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. within 10 blocks of a residential neighborhood, said Cpl. Jason Gosselin.

The cats, hit in the eye, chest, back and head, required surgeries to have the darts removed, but all survived.

Police have do not have any suspects in the case, but the same type of 6-inch dart was used in each incident.
