MODESTO -- Because of the Super Bowl, Townsend Opera has moved up its Sunday performance of "La Traviata" at the Gallo Center for the Arts two hours to noon.
Written by Giuseppe Verdi, the opera centers on a doomed love affair between a courtesan and a playboy. This production updates the setting from early 18th century Paris to 1980s San Francisco during the beginning of the AIDS crisis.
Tickets are $10-$62; (209) 338-2100 or www.galloarts.org.
