-- A body was discovered Monday afternoon in the bed of a pickup parked at a shopping center, authorities said. There were no signs of foul play, according to a Sonora Police Department news release.

Law enforcement and emergency workers were called to the Sonora Crossroads Shopping Center in the 900 block of Sanguinetti Road regarding a welfare check on a person who had been living in a vehicle in the lot but had not been seen in four days.

An employee from a business in the shopping center went to check and saw the person in the pickup's bed, which had a camper shell.

The employee attempted to make contact, but noted that the occupant was unresponsive.

Authorities arrived and determined that the person was dead.

The identity of the person, along with gender and approximate age, is not being released until relatives can be found.

The body was turned over to the Tuolumne County coroner's office.
