Riverbank motorcyclist, driver injured in Modesto crash

MODESTO -- A Riverbank man suffered major injuries when his motorcycle hit the center median, then a car on Mitchell Road, on Saturday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Michael Woods, 19, was riding south on Mitchell near Modesto Airport at 6:55 p.m.

The motorcycle was going faster than 60 mph when it hit the median wall, then careened to the right and into the path of a Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Janice Bentley, 61, of Ceres. The motorcycle hit the car, ejecting Woods, who hit the car's windshield.

The motorcycle kept going down the embankment before stopping. Woods and Bentley, who suffered minor injuries, were taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

The CHP said drugs and alcohol were not considered factors in the accident.
