Hughson council to appoint new member

HUGHSON -- The Hughson City Council on Monday is scheduled to appoint a new member after five applicants were interviewed during a special meeting last week.

Matt Beekman's seat became available after he was elected mayor in November. The council decided to appoint a successor rather than hold a costly special election.

Five people, including a former candidate and current Planning Commission member, were interviewed.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. with a closed-session item. The City Council chamber is at 7018 Pine St.
