KNIGHTS FERRY -- Stanislaus County supervisors on Tuesday will consider a mental health services plan and a proposal to divide the historic Willms Ranch near Knights Ferry into 42 parcels.
The Audubon Society appealed a Planning Commission decision Dec. 6 that approved a plan for splitting the 2,383-acre ranch into 40- to 70-acre pieces for agriculture.
The wildlife group contends that ranchettes and hobby farms will be built, destroying habitat for bald eagles and other protected species.
