Focus on Education: Beyer bash in Modesto

Calling all Patriots! Beyer High will celebrate its 40th year from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 2, starting in the campus Little Theater, 1717 Sylvan Ave. Ceremonies and festivities will include the opening of a time capsule, introduction of the Beyer alumni organization, a slide show, memorabilia and campus tours. SALIDA KINDERGARTEN SIGNUPS: Salida Union School District will hold 2013-14 kindergarten registration from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Dena Boer Elementary multipurpose room, 4801 Gold Valley Road, Salida; and from 8 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Mildred Perkins Elementary multipurpose room, 3920 Blue Bird Drive, Modesto. To register, children must turn 5 on or before Oct. 1 for regular kindergarten, and from Oct. 2 to Dec. 2 for transitional kindergarten, if it is offered. Parents will need proof of birth date, immunization record and proof of residency. Registration packets are available at elementary school sites or at www.salida.k12.ca.us.
