TURLOCK -- TURLOCK Wes Bartole scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Cal State Stanislaus men's basketball team to an 80-70 victory over Cal State East Bay on Friday night at Fitzpatrick Arena.
Bartole did most of his damage from the free-throw line. The a 6-foot-5, 210-pound junior forward was 10-of-12 from the stripe and was the only player in the game who attempted more than four charity tosses.
Overall, the Warriors (7-8, 4-7 California Collegiate Athletic Association) made 24 of 31 from the line (77.4 percent), while the Pioneers (5-10, 4-7 CCAA) hit nine of 18.
Marcus Walters led CSUS with 17 points, while Nick Hodge added 16.
Cal State East Bay's Gabe Kindred led all scorers with 18.
The Warriors will see action again tonight when they host Cal State Monterey Bay. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. and the game can be heard on KEFC 100.5 FM.
Women
CAL STATE EAST BAY 53, CSUS 35, at Turlock Lauren Godde scored a game-high 20 points for the Warriors. Trouble was, she was about the only one doing any scoring for Stanislaus State.
The Warriors (2-14, 1-10 CCAA) suffered their fifth consecutive loss as they were held to a season-low scoring output.
In addition, Godde snared 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.
The CSUS women take on Cal State Monterey Bay tonight at 5:30 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Arena.
