Modesto police said Friday the department has received several reports of people pointing lasers at aircraft near the Modesto Airport recently.

Pointing lasers is illegal and is a danger to pilots, and police said they are keeping an eye out for the perpetrators.

Those convicted of pointing lasers at aircraft can face fines of $1,000 and up, and jail or prison sentences of as long as five years.
